>At the Proud Scotland Awards in Glasgow on Saturday (31 May), Jamie Love received the Impact Award for his marketing agency, Monumental, in recognition of its contribution to the LGBTQ+ community. However, upon travelling home after celebrating his success, Love told PinkNews that he was subjected to an unprovoked homophobic attack on board a train.
>The male passenger, who was captured in a TikTok video seen by PinkNews, was confronted by Love’s friend for being homophobic, his response was recorded and appears to show him saying: “Your gay pal is a f—.”
>British Transport Police told PinkNews: “Officers received a report of a hate crime on a train from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh at around 12.10am yesterday (1 June).”
>Love told PinkNews: “The experience was humiliating, disorienting, and deeply upsetting. And the worst part wasn’t even the slur — it was how casually it was delivered, how easily it was laughed off by his friends, and how normal it clearly felt to them to ridicule someone just for existing in public.”
>He continued: “That’s now also reflected in the TikTok comments where this individual, who has now been identified, is being praised and called a ‘legend’ for his hate crime.”
>The attack happened just a day before the start of Pride Month, which is celebrated annually in June in memory of the Stonewall uprising.
Abhorrent behaviour.
The inevitable consequence of the rise of right wing politics and the anti trans movement.
Fuck these bigoted pieces of shit. They’re the ones who should be humiliated and ostracised until they learn some decency.
American here (sorry🤣), but we’ve been pushing our LGBTG daughter toward the University of Edinburgh, largely because of the seemingly open and accepting nature of the university and the city, granted based only on a handful of visits, not any long term residency in the city, and we haven’t been back to Edinburgh in a few years. Is there a marked change in the cultural acceptance of LGBTQ people in the city, or country as a whole? We were really hoping to give her a more enlightened, enjoyable college experience than I fear she will get here in the states in the next few years. Thanks for your insight.
That report is a muddle.

That appears to say that Love’s friend started it, by saying the guy was homophobic – so, what had he already done at that point? **Why** was he homophobic?
Listen to all the left wing lunatics on here preaching about accepting other peoples beliefs and not showing hate….absolute comedy.
Every queer person needs to get into the self defence, broken bones are all cunts like this respond to
I think people in general are very accepting of gay people and so they should be. I think though a lot of folk are getting pissed off with the Trans folk, this ideology that a man can suddenly claim to be a woman and demand to use female toilets or changing rooms in workplaces, this is pissing a lot of folk off, especially when folk are told it is my right to use that space because I believe I am female even though I look like a man in a dress, don’t hate on me I’m just looking at both sides which unfortunately supporters of Trans people don’t they only see one side.
