I must say I wasn't expecting much from this cemetery, but once I was there my mind was blown.
It was beautiful to see the nature taming the place after so many years of abandoment and it is interesting to know the history behind the cemetery, which goes way beyond the famous people buried there (such as Michael Faraday, George Michael, Douglas Adams, and, ofc, Karl Marx).
I took the tour (£10 for the entry fee and another £8 for the tour). Pricey, but worth every single penny.

Are they back to guided tours only of the old/west cemetery?
During COVID they did “self guided” where they just let you wander about; there were some sections cordoned off and a few guides dotted around but apart from that it was at your own pace.

It’s fabulous isn’t it.
Looks like a pretty dead part of town.
I love the gothic vibe of this place. Been a couple times, and whilst I’m on the fence on what I do and don’t believe in, this place is Eerie af! In the best way.
Weeping angel? Nope…..
I had lots of adventures in this place as a teenager, at night as well as day. Special place – They’re not meant to, but the guide will usually show you George Michael’s grave if you ask nicely, may be rest in peace, beautiful boy.

Place is haunted for 100%
Karl Marx isn’t actually buried there.
It’s a Communist plot!

I was thrilled to find Malcolm McLaren’s grave. I loved Double Dutch so much!
Highgate is great. My husband and I had our first date there.
Well I was going as a tourist to take pictures and he invited himself along.
It’s been 39 years! I took some black and white photos on actual film. I might dig them out.
