  1. Avoid covid for over two years, and now it comes in from the school. Vaccinated and all, but fucking dying here. Doing this every three or six months for the next forever is grim.

  2. I swear it was a turning point two weeks ago when I was recovering from Covid. Immediate improvement. And if it’s just placebo it’s a tasty one.

  3. Idk but did anyone notice recipe for em fizzy drinks isn’t the same, dunno if it’s those shitty sugar taxes, but many fizzy drinks nowadays taste flat.

  4. Well, shite. I thought Jameson was Ireland’s finest medicine. No wonder my kids slept so well when they were sick.

  5. I’m allergic to lime but didn’t find out until my 20s. So every time I got sick as a kid the “medicine” would only make me worse. So what would my parents do? Give me more boiled 7up….

  6. My Irish grand father’s fix was warm brandy. I don’t understand how it was supposed to make me fell better!

  7. ok but how long did you leave the bottle out for? it’s very important to get the timing just right, because if it hasn’t been left out to go flat for long _enough_, then the medicine will prove ineffective. on the other hand, (now this is the important part), if you leave it out for _too_ long, then the medicine’s effectiveness will hit the integer limit, looping back around to -9 quintillion. this will cause the illness to become stronger very rapidly, absorbing the 7up’s energy and eventually taking full control of it’s host. at that point, it’s best for the patient’s family to say their farewells to them, within their final moments.

  8. Please, when did Ireland go soft? Go to the cabinet, grab the Vicks vapo rub, smear it on their chest, put a t-shirt on top and off to bed.

Sure, it doesn’t do anything…but it’s the old way.

  9. There was an order to how my mam used to treat us. With gaps of maybe 4 hours between doses/treatment cycles:

1 Sweet tea and Burnt Toast
    2 Flat 7-up (boiled in a saucepan)
3 Flat Gingerale (just stirred to flatness, never boiled)
4 Drop of Whiskey (she used to put some in a saucer and light it with a match to burn the alcohol off)
5 Drop of brandy (same saucer prep as 4)
6 Drop of poteen (straight no burning)

That was your 24 hour care and I only got to Level 6 once ever with the mumps! I presume Level 7 would have been South Doc or death.

  10. Once upon a time, original 7Up would have really set you right. It contained both lithium citrate (a powerful anti-psychotic) and cocaine. Yummy.
