Edit: Take the information below with a grain of salt. Many people here are wrong. [Not all doctors give the COVID vaccine to patients outside their clinic](https://coronaimpfung.nrw/impfregister). Also, not everyone can go to any doctor they want.

If someone has Hausarztvertrag , according to [this](https://www.facharztvermittlung.de/informationen/hausarztvertrag): (Translated with Google Translate)”the family doctor contract is voluntary. However, if a patient opts for a family doctor contract, he must participate in this for at least one year. For him, this means during this time that **he must always consult his family doctor first** if he has any complaints. Exceptions to this rule are emergencies or visits by gynecologists, dentists or paediatricians.” (emphasis mine)

Hello!

I have a German friend living in the Aachen area. They still have not gotten any shot of the vaccine, and as they are telling me the process seems complicated. The mobile vaccination sites is a bit far away from them, so it’s causing a lot of a hassle.

I live in Canada and here we have vaccinations in pharmacies, and several vaccination centers, and even in walk-in clinics. It seems it’s a lot more facilitated here.

Do pharmacies offer vaccination in Germany? Is there a walk-in place where someone can get a shot other than the spars vaccination sites? I’d love to know what the different options are. My friend suffers from extreme social anxiety and they can’t even call their GP on the phone. I don’t think they can just walk-in to their GP office and get a shot same day, right?

If you have any suggestions, please let me know! Thank you.

  1. Well I guess your friend has to act a little bit more proactive when it comes to getting vaccinated.

Until around a month ago we had larger vaccination centres but they closed down since the federal government stopped financing them and in the last few weeks they had pretty much nothing to do since most people were already vaccinated. At first an appointment was necessary but since summer an appointment wasn’t necessary at nearly all of the vaccination centres.

Pharmacies aren’t administering the vaccine in Germany.

Without an appointment he could go to the health department in the Aachen Arkaden (Trierer Str. 1, 52078 Aachen). Vaccination center opening times: Monday to Saturday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Or get vaccinated at the following mobile sites:

    Monday 08.11.21
12:00-19:30 Uhr: Eschweiler, Real Markt Auerbachstr. 10
12:00-19:30 Uhr: Aachen, FH Aachen, Campus Eupener Str. 70, 52066 Aachen

    Tuesday, 09.11.21
    12:00-19:30 Uhr: Aachen, Hirsch-Center, Elsassstraße 139, 52068 Aachen
12:00-19:30 Uhr: Stolberg-Münsterbusch, Aldi Süd, Mauerstr. 27 (in der Nähe des üblichen Standorts)

    Wednesday , 10.11.21
12:00-19:30 Uhr: Eschweiler, Aldi, Dürener Straße 282
    12:00-19:30 Uhr: Aachen, Kennedypark, Elsassplatz

    Thursday , 11. November
    12:00-19:30 Uhr: Aachen, Hauptbahnhof

So I guess some of these stops should be in his area.

He could also get vaccinated at a local doctors office and maybe book an appointment for the vaccine on Jameda.de

In theory you could simply walk into the GP’s office during consultation hours and get vaccinated. I did this last month when I was getting the flu shot.

Also maybe the vaccination centres might open again in the next couple of months due to a higher demand of booster shots.

  2. > the process seems complicated

    No. It’s dead simple.

    > in Canada and here we have vaccinations in pharmacies, and several vaccination centers, and even in walk-in clinics

Same here. You can get vaccinated at shopping malls, on university campuses, at community centres, vaccination centres, on the farmer’s market, at the public health administration’s offices, and at more than 140 doctors’ offices currently listed on the city of Aachen’s vaccination website.

    > It seems it’s a lot more facilitated here.

    Bullshit.

    > Do pharmacies offer vaccination in Germany?

Some do, but since pharmacies do not normally have a medical doctor attending, their options of offering vaccinations of any kind are limited.

    > My friend suffers from extreme social anxiety

See, here we have the problem. You should put this in the headline next time.

    > I don’t think they can just walk-in to their GP office and get a shot same day, right?

Sure. That’s how vaccinations work. Why would you walk in and *not* get the shot?

  3. lol. your friend must be borderline retarded. it is super easy to get vaccination and has been for at least half a year. just go to a doctor and ask for it
