"A 45-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating sectarian-motivated attacks on houses in north Belfast.
Masonry was thrown at properties on Annalee Street and Alloa Street by masked suspects on 21 May.
A number of families whose homes were targeted in the cross-community housing development later said they planned to leave the area.
The man, who was detained on Tuesday, has been charged with criminal damage and is expected to appear in court in Belfast next month."

Should make an example of this cunt if the system wants to show they actually care about sectarianism.
Good, no place for this
45 years old.
What a fucking waster.
45 years old and at that shite
He should be also charged with intimidation and hate crimes. Why only criminal damage?
[Hmm wonder what all the people who were annoyed in this thread yesterday at comments calling out this sort of behaviour putting developers off building in unionist areas are thinking today. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/northernireland/s/EFYBVwcD5d)
Fantastic to hear that someone was charged, I literally don’t ever remember anyone ever getting arrested for this type of attack.
Imagine this was your da. 45 years old & getting on like that. What an utterly sad bastard!
I understand that there is an extensive degree of historic suffering in both the Protestant and Catholic communities in Belfast, and I empathize deeply with the innocent people harmed on both sides. However, what I can’t for the life of me understand is why in 2025 individuals in Belfast knowing their own history feel the need to intimidate, degrade, and attack their neighbors just because of their religious and political beliefs. You’d think with how much of an improvement the peace process has afforded the people of Belfast that reconciliation and tolerance would be someone’s biggest priority.
The shared schemes are great and incredibly worthwhile, I’m curious though.. if the areas used for these shared schemes were previously very staunchly “one way or the other”.. what preceding community and outreach groundwork goes on in the background to ensure the foundation for these schemes are robust enough to weather any potential “teething issues” and flourish?
These schemes seem to have been embraced and proven a success in a number of previously ostensibly xyz/zyx type communities.. what factors differentiate the successes from the disappointments?
i’m shocked to see an arrest tbh i’ve never seen someone be arrested for this. however i am not shocked that it doesn’t seem they were charged with a hate crime instead just criminal damage.
Pure and utter scumbag. This isn’t too far from me and totally unironically this is a new street but the old street which also had the same name had the Catholic residents ransacked and driven out from it in 1969.

Always the Loyalists isn’t it. Is there actually anything positive that loyalists contribute to?
