Tensions rise as the U.S. warns the UK and France against recognizing a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN conference on June 17.
Seems if Trump doesn’t want a unilateral Palestinian state recognition (something I have mixed thoughts about), he should not have pushed Netanyahu to abandon negotiations.
It was bad enough when Arab nations weaponized the Palestinians in order to use them as a political cudgel against Israel. Now the whole world is doing it. Glib pronouncements to grab a headline or shore up a voting bloc. There is something grotesque about how a real actual war and all its associated human suffering has been appropriated into our performative culture wars and political theater.
They anyway don’t respect their allies, so I don’t think we should care about what the US says
Of course they will warn against it. Because using the same template US will need to recognize a Native American reservations as a state 100 years from now
**TL;DR:**
• U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee mocked France’s advocacy for Palestinian statehood.
• He suggested they should instead “carve out a piece of the French Riviera” Huckabee’s comments highlight the tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and France’s role in promoting a two-state solution at an upcoming UN conference. He made the comments during a Fox News interview on Monday.
• He was responding to a question about France’s support for a Palestinian state at a UN conference in New York City this week. He said: “I don’t think that’s the way to go.
• I don’t believe that that’s how to go about it.” He later apologized for his comments. He also said he didn’t mean to offend anyone, but that he was simply making a point about the French role in the UN conference, which is scheduled to take place next month in Paris.
• He later said he did not mean to insult anyone, just to point out the difference between France and the U.S., he said.

Tbh i don’t think we get a Palestinian state as long as both Hamas and Netenyahu are in power.
They can’t even recognize their own country anymore.
I mean, it’s a shitty idea. Yeah, there should be two states. Eventually.
But don’t say “OK, if you go in a rampage, and kill and rape about a thousand people, and take hostages forcing your neighbour to attack you, we will reward you with a state”. Because that’s basically telling kurds, or south Sahara to just attack and murder as much as you can, and hope for a massacre of your own people”.
