Prime Minister Robert Abela welcomed the athletes who formed part of Team Malta, who are fresh from their successful performance at the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe, which were held in Andorra.

The Maltese athletes returned home with Malta’s second-best-ever performance in a GSSE when winning 55 medals – 13 gold, 24 silver and 18 bronze.

Accompanied by the Minister for Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, the Prime Minister congratulated the athletes, technical staff and members of the Maltese Olympic Committee for their performance in Andorra.

The Prime Minister described this successful result as a great effort from the athletes, coaches, and local administrators.

The athletes and their technical staff enjoyed substantial financial funds so that they could prepare in the best possible way for participation in international competition.
