Mick Wallace is not far-left. Mick Wallace is neither left, nor right, nor centre. He is a bankrupt that doesn’t pay his taxes and likes a job that cocoons him from creditors and employees he has screwed over. In order to keep this job, he will therefore vote against the tide on basically any issue you care to mention in order to be percieved by the ignorant, the uneducated, and the outcast as a ‘man of the people’. He will enforce this false impression by dressing like Worzel Gummidge, because of course he thinks that the common pleb has no sense of propriety, decorum or dignity.
When I see Mick Wallace on the international stage, I am not embarrassed by him. I’m embarrassed by the purality of Irish voters who looked at all the candidates put forward for election and decided that this vacuum was the best choice to represent them, and us, abroad.
If ever you look at political shenanigans overseas and think to yourself “that could never happen here”; think of Mick Wallace.
