It’s been 18 years, but when I was asked to conduct a wedding ceremony at the last minute I FINALLY found a use for this…

  1. Oh my lord. Don’t take this to actual job interviews otherwise they will think you’ve brought the drinks menu.

  2. I had one of those. Put my GCSE certificate in it. All the ink transferred off the certificate on onto the inside of the plastic folder bit! I was NOT pleased!

Needn’t have been upset though – no one ever asked me for it, bar, I think, the A-Level enroller. Just once 😆

  3. The best thing about it is that it actually doesn’t look out of place for the occasion. What would the documents you’ve got normally have been in?

  4. I am a teacher, we all knew they were a bullshit idea back then, but it was decided above our paygrade.

Funnily enough I heard one mentioned by a former pupil the other day, he still has it with the certificates still in it.

My daughter was given a “Wider Achievement” book a few years ago, similar bullshit idea.

  5. My grandma passed away last summer and I had a lot of stuff in my grandparent’s attic.

My NRA book was one thing. I read my scores, how I had high hopes for myself and how my teachers shared those hopes – then I binned the lot. Pure catharsis!

  6. I drew all over mine then lost it years ago. I’ve since gone on to get an engineering MSc so doubt it would of been any use lol

  7. I still have mine. Not that anyone has ever in my entire life asked for proof of a single qualification. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if most the UK workforce were lying about their actual qualifications.

  8. I have no idea what this book is. I guess they phased them out some time in the last 18 years, because I’ve never had one or heard of them.

  9. I found mine in the attic last year and had a flick through.

It opened with “I like to think I’m a trustworthy person”.

This is why I don’t let 16 year old me write my job applications.

  10. I’ve been home in England for a week, bringing the grandson to stay with the olds and in the bedroom they made up for us my mum had left out my record of achievement.

Fun to look at, I had a good attendance record. At the back was my Ozzfest 2002 ticket and a Zoolander movie stub from my first date. Ah the memories.
