The idea is to get applicants in front of companies who are specifically expecting someone with their type of background.
FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota Job Service held a specialized event designed to help those who might have particular struggles in finding employment.
It’s called the Fair Chance Job Fair, and it took place at the job service location in Fargo on 32nd Street.
The fair was designed to assist people that may have possible barriers to employment, such as homelessness, lack of education, or a criminal background.
358 job seekers attended, and representatives from 18 companies were present to potentially offer those people employment.
“The employers are here offering positions and just trying to help the community members that may have some barriers from their past, or barriers now, that might still find great employment,” explained Bradley Aune, a business advisor with North Dakota Job Service.
The Heart and Soul Cafe food truck also gave away 251 free meals at the event.
Other Fair Chance Job Fairs were held at locations in Bismarck and Grand Forks as well.
