SAN ANTONIO — Fabian Garcia-Wells has filed a lawsuit against CPS Energy and the City of San Antonio following an explosion at his Westside home that left him severely injured.
The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, seeks more than $1 million in damages. Garcia-Wells alleges that the explosion on May 31 at his home on Laurel Bend, near 1604 and New Guilbeau Road, was caused by a natural gas leak that CPS Energy failed to inspect and maintain.
The lawsuit claims that Garcia-Wells was disfigured and will require future medical care due to the explosion. Additionally, the lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order against CPS Energy to prevent the company from demolishing or removing any evidence from the home.
It accuses the utility company of attempting to escape liability in past cases.
