What a load of shite. If you pull out a knife and stab a person in the neck you intend to cause serious injury.
The second he stabbed her in the neck he no longer intended to only rob her.
What an insult to that poor woman’s family
So hung jury or innocent? Says that couldn’t decide on either charge
If you stab someone, how can that not be seen as intent to cause serious injury?
Ireland’s soft touch approach to crime is going to make the place an absolute hellhole in 30 years time. No fear of authority or justice amongst violent scumbags, the only people that have reason to fear the justice system are middle class workers who might have forgotten to declare a few euro in dividends or didn’t buy a TV license.
This is such bullshit and needs to change. If you stab someone, you clearly intend to do serious damage to them. That’s your intention. Everyone knows that making holes in people’s bodies is likely fatal unless you’re a fucking surgeon.
Can we have some legal reform please?
Where do they find these jurors? We all gripe about judges being light on sentencing, but they at least come from a fairly selective group, limited by social standing and economic opportunity, so it’s easy for trends to be widespread. But juries are supposed to be cut from the whole cloth of the nation, so for them to so consistently drop the ball fairly boggles the mind.
That case breaks my heart, for that innocent woman, making her way home from work, being attacked and killed by that little lowlife scumbag. She and her husband and family came over here and worked to make a life for themselves. To think that this is how her life was ended so brutally, is beyond tragic.
I hope that justice will be achieved but am fearful that it will not be.
I had to tell someone that knew her the result of the case today and explain the absolute shameful joke of a “justice” system this county has. I’m absolutely appalled, ashamed to be Irish and crushed by this result in court. We are an international laughing stock and absolutely nothing is being done to fix it.
Look, either the kid stabbed her in the neck while robbing her to kill her, or he is so fucking stupid that he didn’t realize stabbing her in the neck would kill her.
Either way, he is a danger to others and gets locked up for life. This is not a complicated issue.
This is bonkers stuff
I’ll be absolutely fuming if this little rodent gets away with murder
If you leave the house with a knife on you then you intend to cause harm. It’s simple as. When you left with that knife on you then you crossed the line.
The jury system is obsolete. Why on earth should a bunch of gormless, impressionable plebs get to decide a person’s guilt or innocence? Anybody with a job can and does successfully dodge jury duty by applying for to be recused. This little cunt should be stabbed in his own fucking scrawny scummy neck and his corpse fed to the seagulls on the quays. He’s a little psychopath. Absolutely guarantee he will kill again.
Man, that crime always shocks me no matter how many times I read about it.
It’s an absolute travesty.
How come this case hasn’t attracted the countries attention like some other stories? Stories in a foreign country caused more outrage here than this.
The poor woman was just walking along.
That little scumbag should never see the light of day again.
Cool, so everybody gets to stab everyone else in the neck and get away with murder, while lawyers bloviate in Chesterfield chairs, enjoying how intelligent they each are, discussing the irrelevant nuances of legalese.
While the system, fails to provide any semblance of justice to a now broken hearted family, broken like pieces of a mirror on the floor, while they debate ‘intent’.
20 years ago a relative of mine was stabbed to death leaving behind two toddlers and the person that did it only got charged with manslaughter, 8 years later he was back on the streets and is now a crack addict that gets to live the rest of his life contributing nothing to society.
Last year a young fella stabbed another teenager after he chased him up a hill and he only got done for manslaughter
I have an awful feeling it’s going to happen again here, I don’t understand how anyone can convince themselves that someone leaving their houses or wherever with a knife or any weapon that they later use to end someone’s life is anything other than murder.
Feels like this country is never hard on the ones that deserve it in any part of society.
Wtf…
We have a huge problem in this country with lawless teenagers. They commit crimes, and on the rare occasions they get caught they get let off with a slap on the wrist. As a result, we send them the message that they can get away with it.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are scared shitless of these thugs. We just have to put our heads down and avoid them. And this poor lady and her family have no justice for her pointless murder.
