Europe can sustain Ukraine’s war effort without U.S., German general says

1. I very much want this to be true, I just wish I could be confident that it is. The German army is in dire need of modernisation, and it will happen over a decade at least, at a huge cost. Can they afford to pay their share of what Ukraine needs? Really really hope so.

2. On Russia:

   “They are recruiting significantly more personnel than they need as replacements for the war in Ukraine. They are producing surplus stocks of ammunition, in particular, which they are ‘putting on store'”.
