Dara Huang has opened up about the emotional and financial challenges she faced following her breakup with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, father of her son Wolfie.
In a candid Instagram post, Huang shared that after their separation in 2018-when Wolfie was just two years old-she focused all her energy on raising him while navigating the difficulties of being a single mother.
Huang wrote: ‘Then came a difficult breakup–the moment I finally claimed the pay rise I’d long deserved-also finally seeing some payoff my growing business.’
‘I was a single mum with a baby, so nearly everything still went to my son.’
Mozzi later married Princess Beatrice in 2020. The couple now share two daughters, Sienna and Athena.
Huang also reflected on her early days in London at age 26, when she stumbled upon a pair of grey Stuart Weitzman knee-high boots left by a previous tenant.
‘I wasn’t in a position to afford them (I had nothing but student loans), and they were not my size(unfortunately), but I remember just staring at them, thinking this was the perfect boot. Sleek, confident, elegant,’ she wrote.
At 29, she launched her own architectural firm and spent the next seven years building her business form the ground up, often sacrificing personal luxuries.
It was not until after the breakup and the success of her company that she was finally able to buy her first pair of Stuart Weitzman boots-a symbol of how far she had come.
