Greece, Cyprus launch €33.5 mln cross-border projects to boost resilience and sustainability

Alternate Finance Minister Nikos Papathanasis has signed financing agreements for 20 new projects within the framework of the INTERREG VI-A Greece-Cyprus Cooperation Program 2021-2027, with a total budget of 33.5 million euros.

In total, 88 entities are participating – 47 from Greece and 41 from Cyprus. A comprehensive set of cross-border actions is fully under way to be completed in the next two years with the aim of strengthening resilience, sustainability and social cohesion.

The operations are being implemented in Crete, the North and South Aegean, and Cyprus, seeking to jointly address challenges mainly focused on: Energy efficiency and green energy; climate resilience and natural disaster management; protection of nature and biodiversity, with the development of digital monitoring tools; and accessibility, culture and social inclusion.
