By the time polls opened on Saturday, 16% of eligible voters had already cast ballots thanks to several days of early voting. Even before results are clear on Sunday, one of the key things will be whether turnout manages to exceed the figure of 34% in the last municipal elections in 2021 – a record low.

948 polling stations will operate in the local elections, as well as remote voting locations in 11 municipalities to make voting easier for those with mobility issues. Voters must be Latvian or European Union citizens who are registered as resident in Latvia.

If you’d like to keep track of results once the polls have closed, you can do so at the Central Election Commission’s website here: https://dati.cvk.lv/PV2025/en/
