  1. “Contracts signed by the Conservative government in 2019 were expected to see £4.5bn of public cash paid to three companies to accommodate asylum seekers over a 10-year period.

But a report by spending watchdog the National Audit Office (NAO) in May, external said that number was expected to be £15.3bn”

Who awarded these contracts, and who are the owners / beneficial owners of these three companies? What is the betting that the deal is corrupt beyond all comprehension?

  2. £2.2 billion to house 32000 people this year? That is a crazy amount. That is like £68,750 for each person.

  3. Have they tried cutting OAP and sickness benefits more? maybe kick a few homeless people and see if any change pops out.

  4. > Labour promised in its manifesto to “end asylum hotels, saving the taxpayer billions of pounds”.

Yeah, they didn’t mention housing asylum seekers in rented [houses](https://www.lbc.co.uk/politics/uk-politics/keir-starmer-appeals-landlords-rent-homes-channel-migrants/) instead though did they.

It’s just pushing the problem somewhere else instead of fixing the root of it. Out of sight, out of mind. Not out of mind for the working family next door who don’t get everything for free though. Still, we have daily questions on other subs about whether Labour are doing a good job and those living in a Reddit bubble saying yes.
