Liverpool’s season may have finished two weeks ago, but many of their players are still putting in the hard yards.
While Reds supporters sit back and prepare to enjoy the transfer window, the majority of the squad are busy on international duty.
There are a range of fixtures being played, from World Cup qualifiers to friendlies, with a big chunk of the Liverpool squad involved.
Plenty of eyes were also on Germany this week, as Reds fans ran the rule over prospective signing Florian Wirtz.
Wirtz’s arrival has captured the imagination of Liverpool fans. Arne Slot’s team lacked a little creativity in the final third last season and the 22-year-old should remedy that.
The player who may perhaps suffer most because of Wirtz’s imminent signing is Dominik Szoboszlai, who is Liverpool’s current attacking midfielder. However, after watching him play for Hungary against Sweden on Friday, Reds supporters are getting excited by what they could be about to see from Szoboszlai.

Wirtz joining as Liverpool’s most advanced midfielder is clearly going to have an impact on Szoboszlai.
This does not necessarily mean he has to drop out of the team, though. Reacting to what they saw him do during Friday’s friendly match, supporters now believe the 24-year-old is going to be deployed in a deeper midfield role.
“Slot said that Szoboszlai is better in a deeper position… he was ahead of the curve,” said one fan. “We’ve been crying for a progressive passer when Szobo’s right there. He’s said he prefers playing in the 8 role. With the coming of Wirtz, makes it easier play him in there,” said another.
“People think Wirtz is better than him are mad,” someone else argued. “Slot would rather watch Salah lazy ball than to have this man play free and confident.”

“Szoboszlai has potential to be one of the best number 8 in the world,” was one fan’s view. “He’ll definitely be playing a little deeper next season for us I think, will see his passing range better from there as well,” another reacted.

“Basically Declan Rice, play him in the pivot or don’t play him at all,” one more suggested. “He needs play ahead of him to contribute to the attack, he can’t dribble so he needs time on the ball. If you want the best out of Szobo put him in the double pivot.”
Other fans simply pointed out that wherever he plays, Liverpool could do with seeing this version of Szoboszlai a little more often.
“He’s a different beast for Hungary,” said one. “Need him to unlock this level for us,” remarked another, and, finally: “Seriously need this version of him in the league more than ever.”
Milos Kerkez leaves Hungary camp
As well as watching Szoboszlai, Liverpool fans may soon be keeping an eye on Hungary for different reasons, too.
The Reds are on the verge of signing Armin Pecsi, a young Hungarian goalkeeper from the Puskas Academy.
More importantly, though, Liverpool are continuing in talks to bring Milos Kerkez to Anfield. Kerkez did not feature in the 2-0 loss against Sweden, with manager Marco Rossi confirming prior to the game that the left-back would not play.
And now, as per The Mirror, it has been revealed that Kerkez has left the camp ahead of next week’s game against Azerbaijan.
Although it is perhaps unwise to read too much into things, that would appear to be a positive step ahead of his potential move to Liverpool. Reds fans will have more reasons to watch Hungary very soon it would seem.
