If even the National have the knives out, heads are going to roll?
Swinney needs to go, his whole strategy seems to be to do nothing, say nothing and fly under the radar, and definitely never ever mention independence.
Seems like the whole strategy is to make a bogeyman out of Farage and hope that inspires Labourites to go to the SNP, whilst simultaneously gambling on the belief that right wing SNP voters wont consider voting for Reform despite the fact that they have none of the toxic baggage of the Tories and have policies which are quite attractive to many working class Scots.
Useless politicians apart from Reform and Farage. There is hope. ☺️

The SNP tactic was designed to scare people into voting SNP by threatening reform at the same time as making people think there was no point voting labour and if you don’t want SNP you should vote reform.
It was cynical and dishonest and I’m glad it failed
the article makes it sound like the campaign was focused on the failings of South Lanarkshire Council, and of westminster politics.
Neither of which are things that MSPs have in their area of direct responsibility.
Which is a bit odd, for an election for a MSP, no ?
You do have to laugh at the irony of nationalist activist complaining of being ‘shut down’ and ‘silenced’ considering this is their go to tactic in general to opposition.
Are they really this surprised that it would happen to them too?
Is there a way around the paywall?
Are the snp in self destruct mode. The activists on the street know more about voting patterns than the n.e.c . Yet the n.e.c. Overrule get your house in order snp. Rent what happened to Labour votes in Scotland.
I say this as an SNP supporter, but the party needs to lose the Holyrood election next year.
There is absolutely no viable path to independence (or frankly even further devolution) under the current Scottish Gov.
The party needs 5 years without the responsibility of governing to clear out the old ranks, come to a settled position on what its message actually is and then pursue that message back to power with new direction and purpose.
Opposition can be a healthy experience for political parties willing to learn from the mistakes that lead them there, I see no other path to independence in my lifetime other than the SNP having this opportunity to reset.
So they want people to know about the danger of reform and labour sneak in to victory in the end.
The SNP have always been an open and transparent organisation, with impeccable corporate governance and internal scrutiny. I can’t believe this story for one minute that activists would be shut down and ignored on the orders of the party leader.
Nice to see the excuses have started rolling in, with the SNP fielding a candidate who has lost three consecutive by elections but is still “the best candidate” 😂
