Fuck me that is just astounding. Surely somebody should be losing their jobs over this? I’ve only needed to use the verify thing once in the past, but it simply worked as intended.
It’s a difficult situation for gov.uk to be in. Gov.uk doesn’t actually have access to many sources of secure information on the population..
If this was the opposite way around, you’d have every news website running articles ‘Man loses life savings after government allows hacker into his gov gateway account!@”
Would be resolved by a national ID card scheme or similar.
