SSP, operator of restaurants, bars, cafes and other food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has opened a new Upper Crust as the first step of a major development project at Vilnius Airport, Lithuania.
Located in the airport’s new Terminal 4, the bakery is the first of six outlets scheduled to open by the end of 2026. The move marks SSP’s debut in Lithuania and a significant expansion of its business in the Baltics, building on the company’s success in Tallinn, where it has operated since 1998. It also leverages the company’s strengths in the wider Nordics region, where SSP has been present in airport food and beverage since the 1960s.
Situated in a busy area close to the gates with an expansive view across the apron, the bakery offers a selection of grab and go products – ideally suited to this ‘last call’ location. It is the first brand at the airport to feature classic baguettes on its menu, a novelty for Vilnius passengers, and brings additional choice to travellers.
It will offer a range tailored to the needs of local customer tastes, while retaining the brand’s key features. A pastry range has been crafted to meet local tastes in partnership with a number of local providers.
SSP Finland and Baltics Managing Director, Elena Heiska said: “At SSP, we have considerable experience with operating in a diversity of international markets, serving passengers at travel locations large and small across continents. I’m very proud of our team here in Vilnius for bringing this outstanding new offer to passengers at this important airport.”
Lithuanian Airports’ Chief Commercial Officer Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė said: “SSP was appointed to operate food and beverage outlets at our airport following a very rigorous tender process and we are very pleased to be working with a global operator with an outstanding international track record for the quality of its service and food.
“Upper Crust is a well-established name that has been performing strongly in airports across the world, and we’re glad it will be augmenting the mix of offers at Vilnius. As part of our long-term plan to enhance the passenger experience as well as further develop our commercial revenues, we are certain it will be a very valuable addition to our fabulous new terminal.”
