State pension age row deepens as Waspi hits ‘landmark moment’ in legal battle for compensation

1. Everybody wants compensation… The law was changed to make the state pension age more equitable (everyone qualifies at the same age, instead of women qualifying younger than men) yet they call themselves “women against state pension inequality” and argue for compensation based on not being personally contacted. Annoying people.

2. Equality please, except when it favours me over others.

3. What happened to feminism wanting equality? If you want equality then you don’t just lose the bad things – you lose the benefits you had as well

4. As a WASPI woman, my mother took heed of the many, many years public notices, full page press spreads, televised public service announcements, billboards, and radio broadcast public notices.

   As such she ensured that everything was solvent and adjusted for her pension, and was largely unaffected by the changes.

   She will now miss out because she actually took notice of the several year long public information campaign, and so will receive pension parity, but will not receive any further compensation if there’s a payout.

   This whole debacle seems to be day drinking Boomer women who have those kind of jobs where they stand behind a counter in some barely frequented boutique or tourist ‘attraction’ but were somehow raking in huge salaries now very publically complaining about how it’s not their responsibility to pay attention to their own finances.

   Ironically it is exactly the same category of women who will scream, and bitch, and chide about how women are all independent free agents who can exist perfectly well without any outside intervention, thank you very much.

   It’s also just a slap in the face to us working generations since it essentially amounts to nothing more than the petulant whine of ‘All the statistics show that your generations are far more economically productive and harder working than mine, but now I demand that you work even harder to keep me in the lifestyle to which I’m accustomed whilst I also vote for Governments that rob from you to give to me. Good luck getting a pension when you’re our age! I’m off to spend my triple lock on another Saga cruise!’

5. Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you.

6. We need actual legislation made to put this to bed, parliament are sovereign and sick of of these entitled old bints trying to bleed tax payers dry because of their own failings

7. It’s ridiculous this is ongoing. They had about two decades of notice. My pension age has changed multiple times. It’s not my responsibility as a taxpayer to now compensate a handful of women for being too stupid to plan their own lives.

8. Mental that this is still a thing. You have lived during an unprecedented run of prosperity in this country, give it a rest now that everything isn’t absolutely perfect ey. 

9. This one won’t go away, eugh. Quite how the country is expected to find £10.5bn to pay out for these women is beyond me. I suppose public services should take another hit? Or another rise in NI payments?

10. This group was given warning 20 years before the change. 20 years! I’ve no sympathy.

Worth noting as well these charlatans are not fighting to reverse pension age increases across the board, they are fighting to claim that they, uniquely are affected by pension age changes and they uniquely get compensation. Pension ages have gone up twice since I started working and the rate they are going I will never get to retirement age and claim it.

    They shouldn’t get a penny. They had a lot of notice and it had literal advertising campaigns to inform people.

12. One of the few issues in our country that unifies both ends of the political spectrum. You love to see it.

13. Honest to god if these women get a penny I will just give up on this country for good

14. It’s abhorrent these people feel entitled to current taxpayers money, they experienced unprecedented levels of support and prosperity. Yet they want more, from a country that’s on its knees.

    They are the wealthiest demographic in society, there are far more pressing issues at hand. The fact they think it’s a noble cause is just more evidence of an out of touch and selfish generation.

15. People who got their pension at 62 want compensation from people who won’t get there’s until at least 68 🤷🏻‍♂️
