Captured on 16mm color stock – just a short glimpse, but packed with charm: seaside traffic on Brighton’s promenade, sometime in the late 1940s. A stylish parade of classic automobiles.
Any car experts around? Identifications welcome.

I wish people had recorded more everyday life in the past. I know it seems counterintuitive, as you would only use film for something special in those days.
It’s much busier than i expected.
In the good old days before the giant teddy bear invasion
No indicating pratts existing then too!
I love seeing photos/videos from before about 1970 in colour. It makes the past seem more recent.
New car you say, colour choice you say? Any colour you want as long as it’s black.
I have noticed a huge difference between old footage of traffic and more recent footage, in the older footage the traffic is moving.
The car that turns left onto the road looks like a [Standard Vanguard](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard Vanguard) with a nice two-tone paint job. First produced in 1947.
Edit: [apparantly there was a taxi company in Brighton and Hove that ran Vanguards with cream bonnets](https://www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk/topic/taxis) in the 50s.
EditEdit: and [here it is.](https://www.202020taxis.cab/about-us.html)
