Covid deaths in England may rise as cases in over-55s increase

  1. I’ve had a really shitty viral infection for the last 2 weeks, proper ugly case of angular cheilitis so I’ve been wearing a mask all the time when I go out. Really notice how few people are taking any precautions at all now even despite knowing that covid is on the rise and being aware that ir can cause long term health defects.

  2. As a matter of interest (and figures are released a couple of weeks behind) we have not had any ‘excess deaths’ so far this year compared the five year average (which excludes covid years I believe).

Edit: I should say ‘on average of all population’. If you look at ages and ethnic groups breakdowns I wonder if there is evidence of vaccine uptake variation.

  3. My wife’s cousin died yesterday of pneumonia, probably due to Covid, he was 38. I only saw him last Wednesday and he was as bright as a button. So no over 55 is not an indication of anything

  4. I think by this point everyone has been or will be infected. There is no way to avoid getting it. Unless you live on top of a mountain or something.

I got it in November and then again 2 weeks ago.

  5. All because Johnson and Co wanted to use the soundbite that “they beat covid”

They never thought it was a good time to introduce robust stat sick pay, mask mandates, free tests or mandatory isolation periods.

  6. Is “may” the 2022 version of “could”…? Has “could” been so over-worked the last two years that we’ve had to bring in a replacement word…?

  7. COVID cases were always going to rise as restrictions were lifted, however COVID is still around and people should at least take some precautions when out. Living with COVID does not mean ignoring it and pretending it never happened.

  8. People acting like covid is absolutely over because the government wanted a win in the sea of bad news.

But worry not, with testing kits no longer free the reported numbers will drop soon.

  9. The government’s priority is money over the health and lives of the people.

People are just numbers to them.
