Vice President JD Vance said in a podcast released on Saturday that he hopes Musk hasn’t taken things too far.

“I hope that eventually Elon kind of comes back into the fold,” Vance said on This Past Weekend with Theo Von. “Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear, but I hope it is.”

Vance is referring to Thursday’s big blowup between the president and the world’s richest person, who had been his biggest backer and senior advisor until a very public falling out that started with Musk’s criticism of the tax bill.

“The president doesn’t think that he needs to be in a blood feud with Elon Musk,” Vance said. “And I actually think if Elon chilled out a little bit, everything would be fine.”
