I really enjoy online chess. However, my mind simply stops functioning whenever I am forced to play against a player I know is Russian. The player may be a clerk in Siberia, or a soldier taking a rest from gangraping in Luhansk.
How can I know?
I know that one thing I never see is Russians protesting against the war.
I do see a lot of caravans with Russian flags and expensive cars in various western cities.
Apparently, all, but a very few Russians support the war, the civilian deaths, the torture and the Russian bestiality in its endless incarnations. Many actually celebrate civilian deaths.
Lichess doesn't want to take a stand. Lichess believes it is ok to facilitate some nice chess to torturers, create a room for dialogue, a place where a kalibr-dead victim and the russian launcher can have a nice talk about Spassky and Potemkin make-up and how effing libre Lichess is.
I'd say it's time for Lichess to take a stand. Should be easy. Currently, Lichess is – in my view – a Russian asset, an appeaser and an embarrassment for the western hemisphere.
