I buy Polish twaróg every week in Sweden. But what is this vegetable next to the image on the packaging? Do you actually eat it like that?

  1. TIL people in Sweden don’t know how a garden radish looks like.

Ya, it’s not unusual to mix twaróg with chopped up radish and/or chives. Here’s one recipe for that: https://aniagotuje.pl/przepis/twarozek

It’s also not uncommon to see finely milled versions of twaróg sold pre-mixed with either radish or chives.

  2. Radish, scallions and dill are the best with twaróg

  3. Rädisor säljs i samtliga matbutiker i Sverige och är högst vanliga att ha i diverse sallader

(Radishes are as common in Sweden as here in Poland and OP’s ignorance is just embarassing.)

  4. It’s a radish.

I like to crumble it up and mix with sugar then eat with a spoon.

  5. I rarely see anyone eating twaróg with radish, and with dill I’ve never seen it at all. With chives/onion leaves seems to be much more popular.

  6. It’s interesting how Scandinavians like it. Icelandic Diaries produces it even because how popular it is. This one is definitely imported.

  7. You add some fine chopped radish and some chives (or straight up onion if you like it) throw it in and mix the twaróg with sour cream so it forms a paste and it makes for an incredible sandwich spread. Lay it on thick. I like to put some sliced cucumber on top too, but that’s optional.

  8. Like many others said, it’s radish. There are so many ways of eating twaróg; adding some radish is a very popular addition—just chop it and mix it with twaróg, and you can use it as a sandwich paste. You can add other things like herbs, cucumber, onion, eggs, meat, fish—whatever suits you. Twaróg is very versatile; you can make it sweet, savory, or use it as an ingredient in many dishes.

  9. It’s a radish, it goes very well together with:
    1. spread some Butter on your bread/ toast
    2. Put some slices of twarog.
    3. Pour some cream on it.
    4. Add some slices of radish
    5. Salt it.
I love it like this 😋

  10. Well my mom used to mix this cheese with smoked mackerel fish and some curry 😉 also yummy

  11. It’s a radish

I don’t know if it’s “nationaal” dish (doubt it), but my mum used to mix twarog with sliced radish and cream, plus salt and pepper Really nice actually

  12. I’m not the only one haha
OK maybe not every week but still…

I also like to mix it with honey and also make a lot of different dishes of the type plättar (placki). Obviously from aniagotuje.pl haha

But have you tried already Polish pasta with strawberries and cream/yoghurt/twaróg??? I get the weirdest reaction about that dish, but oh well, my kids seem to like it.
https://aniagotuje.pl/przepis/makaron-z-truskawkami (I like to mash everything, though, and I often use honey)

  13. Twaróg with radish cut into bits is amazing!  You can also eat it with cut onion as well.   Both add a bit of zing to the rather plain flavor of twaróg.

One of my earliest and fondest memories is of my dad making it like that for me.

  14. Seriously, how do they even do that? Is there ship full of twaróg going each Monday through the waves of the Baltic Sea? Stop! We’re transporting TWARÓG for the Kingdom of Sweden, you have no right to search us!

  15. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be here on the sidelines gleefully enjoying this person asking questions about my country sounding _exactly_ like an alien 😂😆😂

  16. That veggie near it is a radish. Try adding it with some chives.

IMO it’s one of the simplest and the best sandwiches for a summer time.

  17. Few options for eating „twaróg”:
    – radish
    – onions (2mm cubes)
    – garlic
    – chives
    – honey
    – tomatoe
