Hi I recently posted a pic looking for my grandads grave and this community found it for me in hours, which my family will always be grateful for.
If anyone on here knows anything about him we would really appreciate it. His name was James Joseph Matthew Ford born around 1950 and died in 86/88. We now know he’s buried in Holy Trinity RC Cemetery in Lisburn and that the family lived there.
My dad (his son) didn’t really know his dad growing up and it’s his 50th this Friday so hoping to tell him any new information about him.

Glad you found the grave — in addition to other avenues you might consider [ancestry.com](http://ancestry.com) — I think you can get 1 month free trial and it’s pretty easy to trace records back to 1850 or so. If you do and it’s useful you should take a screenshot of any useful documents or records and attach them via profile / gallery on ancestry as once free trial ends they are no longer accessible.
I have a membership to some newspaper archives. I’ll check his name around the dates you mentioned and get back to you.
If he was born in the early 50s you could possibly get his birth certificate online from groni.
Ancestry.com isn’t great for northern Irish records. Visit https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/go-groni-online for birth, marriage and death records. There are date restrictions in place based on the type of record and if you want the full record it will cost but it’s not much. Additionally you can see the 1901 and 1911 census records here for free. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
Sorry I meant to add I’ve already done ancestry and found bits, but looking for anyone who knew him or the family to share stories.
You know what’s crazy is I was going to post earlier that it looks like the graveyard behind Dominos in Lisburn (the one you said) but because you put Ballymena in the post I doubted myself. Glad you found where it was!
If there’s a Lisburn community page on facebook it might be worth posting there? Sometimes they’ll give up wee gems. Good luck!
The family was from Windsor Avenue in Old Warren, Lisburn.
Post on Facebook asking about them, someone will know. Reddit isn’t the place for it demographically, FB is.
u/EKMDJM , you said your parents knew the fella right?
I’m seeing my mum tomorrow. She does alot of work with ancestry and works alongsode the historical society so I will flag this to her. Is there any additional information you can provide? Like schools they went to etc.
Join lisburn notice board on FB and ask there
My dad grew up in the Lisburn area, but he’s dead now himself. However, my dad would have been about 15 when your granda was born, so a big age difference there and likely not much, if any, connection.
But I have other living relatives with close ties to Lisburn and I’ll ask around.
