My ethnicity estimates. I wonder how acurate it is. My mother and father both have lebaneae and southern italian while i don’t. from my parents i should have gotten 4% lebanese and also 3% south italian. maybe because both are very similar to the Cypriot genes?

What test it this?
Welcome to the kurkutas club
100% Phoenician Blood
I had the same issue with MyHeritage where my dad had like 10% Sardinian ancestry and I had none, among other inconsistencies. In general my ancestry composition did not seem to match those of my parents. (Although the test recognizes they are actually my parents, phew)
you don’t always inherent all the dna you parents have so it seems pretty normal
I did the 23andMe test and got Greek and Cypriot. My mum is greek my dad is cypriot and I thought I’ll get something else too since i had a grandma that was vlach. Idk how it works either. It’s weird
Are your parents from Larnaca or Ammochostos? People from these cities tend to be genetically similar to Lebanese.
You can download your DNA raw data and upload it on other websites (myheritage, family tree DNA and others offer this service) The ethnicity estimates might differ, as every company compares your DNA to the ones in their databases, different database, slightly different results
These ethnicity predictions are a bit of a scam to be honest.
They match you against a database, usually of their existing customers, which means there is already bias in the data. You will always come out in relation to the existing customers, so if they have a low % of South Asians you’re unlikely to have a significant match with that community even if you have the genes.
What’s more, because these services match you by particular genes you have, it doesn’t mean that people from other backgrounds don’t have them. You can take that the other way, just because you don’t have a gene doesn’t mean that people who are from a similar background also don’t have it.
Basically it’s matching people based on the statistics of their profiles when compared to others. It’s about likelihood with a biased dataset, don’t take it as gospel
Cypriots are not pure blood. They had so many conquerors that the DNA and blood line is similar to half the world features
Very interesting
100% cypriot? You are….. the one.
There is not such thing as 100% Cypriot.
I did the Ancestry DNA test a few years ago. They changed my results 4 times since then.
The first time they didn’t have Cyprus as a group, so my results was from the whole surrounding region (Middle East, Greece, Italy, Anatolia & Caucasus).
Now it gives me 98% Cypriot.
It all depends on how they choose to make their groups. These tests do not reveal any ancient links between regions and people.
yo what site is that, I want to see mine! can someone tell me the name of this?
The levant all has similarities, that is why we are a sub region in the middle east
Γνήσιος Κυπραίος στο μαξ
Cyprus is a really good place to live but the that ruins the experience are not the turkish people it’s the president and the politicians that come up with the worst covid laws.
You are the island itself.
