United States Soccer will be eager to get a win over
Switzerland in Nashville on Tuesday after a disappointing loss in Concacaf Gold Cup preparation over the weekend.
The USMNT is fresh off a tough 2-1 loss to Turkey in Connecticut on Saturday. The Americans went up within a minute of kick-off thanks to a beautiful curling effort by Houston Dynamo midfielder Jack McGlynn.
But a couple of defensive errors allowed the Turks to score two unanswered goals before half-time, and eventually hold on to the narrow lead to send the crowd home disappointed.
The result makes it three losses in a row for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, having suffered defeats to Canada (2-1) and Panama (1-0) in late March.
The loss didn’t help quiet unrest around the US camp, with fans and pundits alike criticizing the federation for taking a weaker squad to the upcoming Gold Cup, missing a number of its most important players like Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Antonee Robinson.
Switzerland, meanwhile, pulled off a big 4-2 win over Mexico in Salt Lake City on Saturday, with four different players getting on the scoresheet for the Swiss.
