  1. *From Bloomberg News reporters Hadriana Lowenkron and Tyler Kendall:*

President Donald Trump suggested California Governor Gavin Newsom should be arrested over his handling of unrest in Los Angeles, escalating his attacks on the state’s leaders.

Trump on Monday was asked by a reporter about a back-and-forth between Newsom and White House border czar Tom Homan, who threatened arrest for anyone who obstructed immigration enforcement efforts, including the governor and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

Homan said neither leader had yet “crossed the line” but Newsom responded in an NBC News interview that the border adviser should stop bluffing and “just get it over with,” saying “arrest me, let’s go.”

“I would do it if I were Tom. I think it’s great,” Trump said at the White House after returning from Camp David. “Gavin likes the publicity but I think it would be a great thing. He’s done a terrible job, look — I like Gavin Newsom, he’s a nice guy but he’s grossly incompetent, everybody knows that.”

  2. Life is looking so damn bleak these days. I am almost beyond hope that politics will ever return to normal. What happens if he actually does arrest Newsom? What is the recourse?

  3. Why do Californians put up with this mistreatment?

The USA would be nothing without the innovation and money that California produces.

[Why not give it a shot at least (I know trump would hate it!)](https://calexitnow.org/)

  4. What a great president, he builds up tensions when it would be wise to play it down….

  5. This is totally normal and will totally not lead into further chaos. What a disgrace this ‘president’ and his supporters are.

  6. He said he was going to arrest democrats and political enemies while he was campaigning.

People said you couldn’t take that serious. Egg prices.

Whatever reason he says he’s doing it for doesn’t matter. It’s authoritarian dictator stuff.

  7. He also called them insurrectionists who belonged in jail.

The 5 followups that followed should have all been “didn’t you immediately pardon insurrectionists, hundreds of whom beat law enforcement to a pulp?”

  8. >He said Bass and Newsom “should be saying, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR.’”

    Lol wut?

  9. Forgive the image of a limp cock pissing wherever the owner turns, with hands flailing in a desperate attempt to regain (gain) balance.

What’s wrong with the human race that we elect the filthiest; the proven rapist, the proven criminal, the proven sadist, the proven idiot as our “leader”?

Let me get off this bus! I never got on; just woke up here!

  10. He’ll never do it, he’ll TACO again like always, Newsom should keep daring him to do it

    (edited for spelling)

  11. Do it then? What do you have on him? He said go ahead.

Trump has hated California for decades, I guess nobody there likes to do business with him.

  12. Oh, he plans on arresting a lot of opposition politicians once he’s able to find cover for declaring martial law. This is a goal on the way to the political dominance called for in Project 2025. It’s very telling that he’s able to call for Newsom’s arrest without hesitation because he knows that he will be granting himself that power.

  13. One hundred years from now, kids in Cascadia and the other independent republics are going to be reading about this in their history books while measles and polio ridden kids in the remaining United States (basically the current red states) are forced to kneel in prayer to the golden statue of Trump in the school yard.

  14. Washington, Oregon, and California should consider joining Canada.

  15. If Trump arrests the California governor, that’s it. That kicks off the 2nd American Civil War. I know there are no adults left in the room in Trump’s administration, but if there is someone with the mentality of a precocious teenager left, they better tackle Trump before he pulls that trigger.

  16. This shit needs to stop. We are not doing this. American people need to raise the fuck up and put it into this bullshit.

  17. Gavin Newsom is already the right’s main target for 2028. He is one of the most high profile dems right now, and pretty good in the media, even if I disagree with his attempted moderate pivot.

Arresting him on Trumped up charges will only increase his profile while showing more people Trump and his ilk are acting like thugs. If I was Newsom, I’d relish being arrested.

Obviously, he’s not going to win over MAGA folks. The right gets off on attacking states like California and there is nothing Newsom can do to win them over, which is why I think his triangulation attempt will not win him the White House but it might win over some of Trump’s less devoted fans and lefties like me.

Never been a huge fan of his. He has a smarm to him that I just don’t like. My thinking has been he would take all the slings and arrows from the right before 2028 and it would end up mortally wounding his candidacy, leaving someone better to step into the spotlight, having been shielded from so many attacks by Newsom.

Latinos supported Trump in greater numbers last election. Newsom’s forcefulness on this issue could help win some of them back, though Trump’s balls to the walls crackdown has already started that shift.

I still think he’s too smarmy, not that I wouldn’t vote for him in the general, but actions like this could win people like me over.

Not much downside for Newsom in getting unjustifiably arrested and a lot of upside.

  18. >“Gavin likes the publicity but I think it would be a great thing. He’s done a terrible job, look — I like Gavin Newsom, he’s a nice guy but he’s grossly incompetent, everybody knows that.”

    Holy projection, Batman!

  19. >Trump in a post on Truth Social Monday defended his decision to call in the National Guard, posting: “If we had not done so, Los Angeles would have been completely obliterated.” He said Bass and Newsom “should be saying, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL. WE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU, SIR.’”

I’ve never hated someone as much as I hate Donald Trump.

  20. He’s a fucking mob boss.

“Nice California you have there. Be a shame if something were to… happen to it”

  21. Trump literally operates like a preteen bully burning ants with a magnifying glass. This man refused to send the National Guard to repel insurrectionist that were breaking into our nations capitol and physically attacking police, even after being begged to do so by numerous people.

Yet Here in Los Angeles we had mostly peaceful protests of ICE’s inhumane and unethical actions that were thrown off the rails by agitators and/or bad actors. The governor of the state tells Trump that National Guard is not needed, and they can control the situation, and he sends them in anyway.

Those National Guard further exacerbate the situation. And now the president is talking about sending in Marines and arresting the governor. Donald Trump has done nothing, and I mean nothing to bring this country together, benefit its people, or resolve any issues.

This man literally spends every waking moment driving a wedge between relationships on a national and international level and between families of citizens of this nation, and somehow supporters claim that he is doing good things for our country.

I’m beyond disgusted with this man and the people who support what he is doing.

  22. None of this would have happened if Garland had done his job.

  23. This country is so pathetic. Didn’t know a “strong democracy” like ours could be overthrown by a 78-year old criminal in a matter of months.

  24. The enlisted military oath says that they will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States and defend our Constitution. To me, that means the military is bound by their oath to put Trump on trial for threatening military action against 1st amendment activities. The military oath demands arresting Trump immediately and holding a trial for his crime against the country.

  25. The reason he and the powers behind him target California so much is because it is the one state that has the real financial, political, and international power to stand up to the federal government. They know that as long as California is strong and solvent they can’t steamroll the rest of liberal America. Newsom and Californians are literally fighting on the first front of our civil war.
