Princess Eugenie’s Instagram account might just be my favorite royal Instagram account. Here’s why: Unlike the other members of the royal family—Prince William and Kate Middleton, King Charles and Queen Camilla, even Meghan Markle, who all regularly post personal and professional updates—the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, regularly offers a filter-free view of her life. This weekend was no exception.
In honor of World Oceans Day, Eugenie posted a carousel of images with the caption: “The ocean is the greatest wonder of the world.” But there was something else that stood out in her beachy selection of pics. On slide two, Eugenie shared a shot of herself from behind wearing a one-piece racerback swimsuit chasing after her kids, August and Ernest, in the sun-speckled waves. As a mom myself with sand-filled summer holidays fast approaching, I was immediately reminded of the versatility—and practicality—of her bathing suit choice.
After all, racerback styles are sporty and chic. They’re the ultimate style for running around after little ones, but also ideal for swimming and all matter of sand-related activities. (Flashing back to last summer and I can vividly recall how many times I had to annoyingly adjust and re-adjust my swimsuit straps while digging a mega-sand castle and racing the incoming tide.) A racerback silhouette solves that issue and is designed to hold everything comfortably in place. Also worth noting: Eugenie’s choice to pair her suit with a pair of sheer—and seemingly fast-drying—shorts. Further proof that mom style can be utilitarian and cute.

Of course, Eugenie is a huge champion of all things related to ocean conservation, serving as Global Ambassador for Thirty Six for Coral, an art exhibition dedicated to coral reef conservation; she’s also an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation, which is working to protect 30 percent of the ocean by 2030—a valiant cause.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to keep tabs on her Insta—Eugenie’s work, style and joy-filled parenting snaps are a source of unfiltered inspiration for all (not to mention a fun peek into royal life).
