Definitely gunnera, and only a smallish one at that – we’ve got one in the garden and it’s practically prehistoric
Gunnera not native and actually classed as invasive now, this one’s just a baby
Gunnera! Dinosaurs used to eat it 😀
Can we get another picture with a banana for scale instead please?
Did you get your apple back?
As others have said, it’s a Gunnera. And I’ve seen bigger….
Burj Khaleafa
Gunnera! Like giant evil rhubarb on steroids!! Terrifying and awesome!
~~Sadly~~ Reported that it’s ~~pretty~~ restricted for sale now, in case it runs wild like Buddleia.
Edited to avoid giving support to invasive species.
In awe at the size of these lads
Could be this [https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/gunnera](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/gunnera), have seen it loads around cornwall HUGE leaves a bit like rhubarb but with spiky stems
I thought that was a ladybird on a regular size leaf!
Here is an interesting video from Leave Curious about Gunnera in the south west. There are two species and a hybrid. His videos are about restoring our landscapes without alienating all stakeholders. Very interesting to see.
Blooming things grow like weeds here in Cornwall. As for invasive species, don’t get me started on Rhododendrons. Mind they do brighten up the place in spring time, bugger all can grow under them as they block out all the light. At least Gunnera’s die off each winter.
How strange. I’ve literally just seen a TikTok from a British woman waving one of these leaves around saying she’s found the biggest leaf ever. Wasn’t you was it lol 😂
Were you in Cornwall? This stuff grows like a weed in the far South west.
Gunnera manicata can still be sold, it’s cryptica and tinctoria that are illegal to sell or plant.
They had quite a few of them in the Lost Gardens of Heligan when I was there several years ago.
Absolute unit
That’s the tiniest apple I’ve seen in my life OP 😱😉
Where did you find it? I’ve been looking for one of these leaves for ages to do a piece of art with.
King Charles has these growing in the margins of the ponds in Dumfries House Estate in Ayrshire (which the King’s Trust owns). They truly are spectacularly giant!
Is this in Scotland?
Nice selection of nettles and brambles you have there sir

Gunnerra I think it’s called, was at Beaulieu motor museum at the weekend and they have some there in the gardens
Looks like a very big rhubarb plant
There are some down on the Jurassic coast near Lyme Regis. Huge!!
If you could share this over r/gardening they would go nuts for this! That leaf is huge!

Next specimine. Giant rubarb is neat
I always call it scary rhubarb as it’s oddly terrifying looking.
Just yesterday I watched [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0DUTzlKfO4).

When I first looked I thought the apple was a ladybird.
Saw this picture at the Lost Gardens of Helligan.
The actual gunnera’s there looked like they’d been feeding steroids to rhubarb.

Did you get the Apple back or just leaf it there?
