Matteo Pérez Vinlöf is one of a spate of high profile youth left-back signings Bayern Munich has made, among the likes of Julien Yanda and Adam Aznou. The highly rated Swede came to the club in the summer of 2022 at 16, before progressing straight through every age group and graduating from the U-23s at 18. He then made the next step by moving on loan to Austrian Bundesliga side Austria Wien, where Vinlöf lined up in the LWB role for the club played around 62% of the club’s total league minutes.

Ultimately, it was a successful loan. So successful, in fact, that Sky Sport DE reporter Karry Hau claims that Vinlöf is a very in demand player. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Austria Wien would like to keep Matteo Pérez Vinlöf (19) at the club. The left-back spent the season there on loan. Clubs from Portugal and 2. Bundesliga are also interested. Both a loan or permanent move are on the table.

There is no big need to move Vinlöf on. Hopefully the club gets some attractive offers that sees him get a chance take a step up from the Austrian Bundesliga.

The latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show has dropped and we have a lot of say! In this episode, we close the book on the German national team and its disappointing performance in the UEFA Nations League Final Four (at least for now). We also discuss Bayern Munich’s quick work to secure Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof for the Club World Cup, while also assessing the viability of Bayern Munich chasing Chelsea FC’s Christopher Nkunku and why that potential move might not be the perfect fit for what Bayern Munich needs.
