I’d love to know how much these claims would have cost the Gov if they just let people have it.
Ultimately it’s just another way for the Tories to line their ‘friends’ pockets with taxpayers money – something they’re extremely good at these days. I wonder how many MP’s have ties to the solicitors used to fight these claims.

For years it has been repeatedly reported how the Tory Government spends significantly more on fighting false disability claims then the false claims actually cost.
Its also been reported many times over the years how the costs of fighting disability claims has massively increased even thou over 3/4 of Tribunals result in a positive result for the claimemt.
This isn’t new, it’s been happening for years but the British Public simply don’t give a fuck about disabled people.
Millions of people are constantly voting in a Government that is spending hundreds of millions pounds every year in an effort to stop disabled people getting benefits.
So that is the Government spending YOUR taxes on stopping disabled people claiming benefits.
But will spend nothing on the covid loan fraud that cost us £37 billion.
Compare & contrast.
£440m to stop disabled people getting the benefits they are due.
£4b given away to conservative-linked “VIP” contractors for useless PPE, and no effort to reclaim the money or prosecute actual fraudsters.
Our political system is broken as long as BJ can continue to pay off the right-wing backbenchers who could put in a vote of no confidence. Besides the next election, there is no way to remove a corrupt, lying, Russia-linked PM & cabinet that refuses to go. The UK is Moscow-on-the-Thames.
When my wife had her assessment, we arrived early. The staff were in a meeting and we were seated just outside the room. I heard their manager congratulating staff for how many claims they had denied the week before, then they got applause.
When they came out a few of them had packets of Haribo sweets.
The supermarkets have a thing called “shrinkage” they just factor in that some losses are inevitable in such a huge operation. The government prosecutes claimants to make a political point. It is completely unnecessary and always costs far more than any money recovered.
They’ll then use this cost to justify why this year they’re ending Warm Home winter allowance help for the disabled. Spend money trying to fight against doctors and professionals giving evidence of disability then remove money to keep disabled people paying their heating.
Can the government just fuck off and let us live for a change
I’m disabled and didn’t get disability support as they pretended (I’m not joking) to ignore the evidence, drew their own erroneous conclusion that im at peak physical and mental health and told me to jog on. It’s been nearly two years of misery since then.
*sniff* kinda makes you proud doesn’t it.

Can we really call a system that was designed to be exactly like this broken?
The government commissioned a report into the cost/benefit of the benefit sanctions system and then refused to let anyone see it, rejecting Foi requests.
So we all know what that says – It costs a fortune, causes untold misery and achieves almost nothing else.
It’s never been about avoiding paying out to those who don’t need it, it’s always been about simply denying needed care because they don’t want to do it, so it doesn’t matter how much it costs to them. If you aren’t in need of disability benefits, you have no idea how difficult and convoluted the system is and the constant fear and pressure we feel that they might be taken away or we might do the wrong thing. The entire system is a banal evil that simply wants to deny care to anyone, not for some moustache-twirling malevolence (though it absolutely feels like it), but because they simply don’t care and their myopic and self-centred view doesn’t allow them to, or even see us as people.
It has to be a sign off from a doctor.
No more. No less.
Those in need deserve a proper judgement, not a bloke with a clipboard.
I used to accompany claimants to tribunals to support them. The fact that 70% of tribunals are successful tells you a lot about how shitty and badly.managed the first stage is.
The way the DWP fights people is designed to break them.
They will delay and lie for as long as possible. Even when they have been found to be in the wrong and admit errors in benefits. They will then make up stuff to delay payment then make stuff up to try and knock years off. Like claiming to not know when your claim started even after being given recording of their staff giving dates other staff deny they have.
It is peice meal deceit. Claim by claim they will go through and fabricate reasons not to pay you. In the hope of breaking your will and giving up.
They can stretch out not paying for literally years after acknowledging a claim. They are doing this to the disabled and the sick. So if you think you pay your taxes and the system will look after you if you get sick…
WRONG you will be thrown down through the cracks and left to die… And during this process you will be stripped of your humanity your health. And treated with the aspution that you are a criminal engaging in fraud. Not a sick person trying to recover.
And since for the last decade, we have had the ex CEO of global expansion for Americas largest health insurer running the NHS in to the ground (Simon Stevens) getting your health care needs met is a game of russian roulette. its a spiral to the bottom. The is going to be a cratering of life expectancy in my generation compared to my parents and grand parents generation. And that even with grandparents generation going through world war f’ing 2!!!
