Earlier on Eamon said turf would be banned, then Leo said the ban was on pause, then Eamon said it wasn’t paused, now Barry Cowen is coming out to take lumps out of Eamon
Ryan giving in on this would be rather embarrassing for the green party. Can the rural people not just use some more efficient fuel like smokeless coal rather than peat?
Wouldnt be like Cowen to make a U-turn…
Ryan honestly just speaks without thinking at all.
Feels like this was the one common sense thing Eamon tried. People really shouldnt be burning turf in 2022.
Well. Back to ignoring corporate pollution while taxing the fuck out of the public and not investing in green public transportation I guess.
Barry Cowan … not even once.
FF are happy to get the Green’s votes in the Dáil when it’s FF policies are getting enacted, and then they do an about face when it’s finally the Greens turn.
It’s a classic case of bigger parties promising junior partners the sun and the moon to get them into government and then taking self-righteous offence on the rare occasion that they’re asked to live up to those promises.
Does Barry Cowen understand how kingmaker works in politics?
Eamon Ryan and his party, unpopular or not, agreed to prop up this government under certain conditions. If Barry Cowen doesn’t want to be propped up he can just say so and the Greens can open the door for SF to be Barry Cowens new daddy.
If that’s how cowen is going to act then I don’t see one of him or the coalition lasting much longer. (I.e the coalition collapses or he loses the whip)
If it was in the pfg then he has already agreed to do it. How would he feel if the greens went against some FF policies in the pfg.
