the African Union has hit back after half of the countries on the new US travel ban list are located on the continent in a statement the AU Commission called on Washington to adopt a more consultative approach and warned of a negative impact on broader diplomatic relations us President Donald Trump has justified the ban as a national security issue after calling Somalia a terrorist safe haven its citizens have expressed their outrage the problems that drove migrants to leave Somalia persist it’s a major issue and this decision is a humilation for us Somalis many Somali live in the United States including members of our family i call on the US president to end the travel ban and allow Somali to live there proudly the decision to include the Republic of Congo has left officials puzzled the Congo is neither a terrorist country nor does it harbor any terrorists nor is it known for its terrorist activities we believe that this is a misunderstanding washington claims the visa overstay rates for Congolese nationals as well as citizens from Chad are unacceptable in the US some Americans say they’re not surprised the ban is back it’s Trump he’s a renowned racist and he’s trying to make America white again not make America great again which is very sad and scary considering that this nation was built on different nationalities and immigrants the only exception athletes who’ve qualified for the upcoming FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games which will be held in the United States

The African Union (AU) on Thursday expressed concern over a new US travel ban on several countries, while Somalis were indignant at being among the seven African nations singled out by the Trump administration. President Donald Trump signed the decree on Wednesday, banning citizens from Somalia, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti and Iran from travelling to the United States.

  1. Let's face it, I'm an African (Kenyan) but everywhere majority of the illegal African immigrants go turns into a "cesspool"

Secondly banning Somalia is justified, trust me they're our neighbours, we host millions of their refugees and they've turned out to be the biggest security threat ever, look at all the terrorism activities carried out in Kenya, the terrorists have been Somalis.

  2. 1:52 The travel ban does not change the status of Somalies living in the US, unless they are here illegally. It is a legal notification which basically informs US citizens the US government will not engage in diplomatic efforts to rescue them if they encounter issues should they decide to travel to Somalia. Somalia is free to retaliate by banning travel to the US for Somali citizens. We understand, and can help Somalia by refusing entry to Somali citizens to the US. Sometimes, a cooling off period is needed before diplomatic relations can resume.
