Alexei Navalny and his Anti-Corruption Fundation must be very proud of Putin
he involuntarily created the biggest seizure of Russian oligarchs assets since at least 1917
12??
I wish my country was also a place to hoard asset for the corrupt businessmen and politicians of the world. Then whenever war came, free money. Unfortunately all the corrupt business men from my country go to London when they fall afoul of the authorities here and live a comfortable life.
I’m guessing that many very wealthy people are going to be looking for alternatives to storing their money as a result of this. It will be interesting to see how this affects the choices they make, especially those from countries considered corrupt. African dictators have long considered the west as safe places to store questionably-gained money; I’m guessing that places like Dubai may become more important for them.
No-one needs twelve homes.
I wish it was a world-wide competition – to see who can freeze/seiz the most assets from Russia anf its undesirebles
One of the things that separate Western democracies from dictatorships is that the citizen is protected against arbitrary punitive actions from the government. Yet here we are. If this post makes you angry but you don’t really have a rebuttal, just press the downvote button.
