Claim to be anti-racist “in tatters” after Islamophobia complaint, Labour warned

  1. So, pertinent quote is:

    >But candidates must submit nomination papers showing which party they are standing for and Newcastle City Council published an election notice on March 25th. McCarty was suspended on March 29th, which means she will appear on the ballot as a Labour candidate.

A curiously missing line but from another publication on the story:

    >The Labour party said it no longer endorsed her candidacy, even though she is still on the ballot.

So we have a councilor who is suspended from the Labour party, is only on the ballot because of an administrative quirk and the Labour party don’t endorse them.

Not quite the headline it seems.

  2. “Anti-racism” and “islamophobia” are both terms that need deprecating.

There is nothing wrong criticising a religion and its practices, even if they become culturally entwined, and “anti-racism” as defined by its proponents is nothing short of racism by any definition that was universally accepted until 5 years ago.
