The service will see veterans, residents, civic leaders and members of the armed forces community come together to mark the anniversary of the end of the conflict.

The event, organised by the Clacton branch of the Royal British Legion in collaboration with Tendring Council, will be held at Clacton War Memorial on Saturday morning (June 14).

The ceremony will honour those who served in the ten-week conflict in 1982, which concluded with the liberation of the Falkland Islands.

It will be led by Rev Henderson George, and will include the Last Post, prayers, the Falklands Epitaph, and wreath-laying.

Tendring Council chairman Bill Davidson will give a reading during the ceremony, which this year marks the 43rd anniversary of the conflict.

He said: “The Falklands War remains a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of our armed forces.

“This service is an opportunity for our community to come together, reflect, and pay tribute to those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

“We hope to see residents of all ages join us in remembrance, alongside veterans and local forces organisations.”

Clacton War Memorial is in the town’s seafront gardens, off Marine Parade West.

The service is due to start at 11am.
