Big “anything” only cares about money and power. Executives of “big” companies only want to get rich.
Since they’ve known since the 70’s that their product would kill thousands, YES.
Yes but no one cares and EV aren’t selling so a lot of people are accomplices.
yes.
as they have before, in numerous ways.
They have methodically knee-capped humanity’s ability to respond to this crisis over the decades and they will be responsible for the worst crime in human history. Those behind this know it but they will claim they were just following orders or trying to make it a little better. Some of them truly despise humanity so the more they can make suffer the better.
YES
No. We’ve ALL known the dangers for at least 40 years. Nearly everyone in power knows, even the ones who publicly deny it. Ecocide I could get on board with, but murder? We did this to ourselves. I’ll still fully support punishing the OG industry, but throwing around terms like murder is just rhetoric.
If corporations are people, they should be tried for murder and given the death penalty if they are found guilty. In that case, they would forfeit all assets back to the government.
Just wait ’til you start thinking about Big Sugar, or Big Meat. There are whole industries that are mass killers, and they know they are. It’s up to us to stop them.
Unfortunately, although technically you might be right. Research shows that the more causal distance there is between the original Factor leading to an outcome and the outcome. The less that original Factor is blamed.
For example, if someone wants to murder their husband and so they point a gun to shoot at them, but the husband trips and their gun accidentally knocks over a kettle that sets fire to the place, ultimately resulting in the husband’s death, people will view them as much less responsible than if they simply pointed the gun and shot the husband.
In other words, although technically you might be right. Don’t expect people to react that way… There are too many steps in between the original actions of the oil companies and the ultimate deaths due to heat waves for people to draw a clear causal line even when one exists. As I agree with you, one does
