  1. This is a win for fisheries as well as energy. Construction can be disruptive to marine mammals, but once it is built, [sea life gathers on windmill pylons.](https://us.orsted.com/renewable-energy-solutions/offshore-wind/coexistence). Even oil platforms become artificial reefs, [some ecologists are calling for oil platform Eureka off the coast of California to be kept in place as a wildlife refuge once oil production stops.](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/oil-rig-eureka-reef-marine-wildlife?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

But the main benefit is that it becomes a wildlife refuge by default. The whole area in the map becomes a no- trawl zone. Fishermen lose a bit of fishing grounds, but fish gain a refuge where the vertical features are super prime habitat for many species. This leads to more stable populations in the long run for fishing.
