  20. Trump tore up the original nuclear treaty. Blustered about. Claimed he’d get a deal done and the offer from his admin to Iran was nearly identical to the original treaty he tore up as the “stupidest plan ever”. So much for no more forever wars. Forever ruled by incompetent republicans.

    Not defending Iran here as they’re not a good actor, but we had something that was working and was only abandoned because the black president came up with it.

  22. Can I ask, from a cold realpolitik perspective, what the hell Hezbollah and Iran’s angle was here?

    Because as far as I can tell, they just sat around doing as little as possible for two years letting Israel pick the time and date of their execution. The second October 7th happened, that was a guarantee, Israel would going to wipe out Hamas and Hezbollah and neutralize Iran.

    So why the fuck did they let Israel fight them 1 at a time where they stand no chance? From my perspective, the least bad bad option(other than telling Hamas not to be morons which seemingly didn’t work) would be to go all in on the Hail Mary and join in on October 8th.

    Send Hezbollah in from the North, have them and Iran launch their entire missile Arsenal at once at Tel Aviv and kill thousands, call up the Iraqi and Syrian proxies, bribe Assad to send whatever he can and hope to god the fervour forces Fatah on board. Go all in then, because the die are already cast and if you don’t move now Israel will come to you soon enough and end you 1v1. And either they win or they lose, but they definitely lose doing what they did IRl and just waiting for Israel to come to them so what the hell?

    Israel actually risked alot in doing this strike, 3 days before trump meeting with Iran foreign minister. Clearly they thought it was more important to stop Iranian nukes than facing trumps ire.
