Italy has launched its first seismic early warning system on the Rome–Naples high-speed rail corridor, marking a major step forward in railway safety in a seismically active area. The system, developed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), has been operational since midnight on 3 May 2025. Within two weeks of being operational, an earthquake of 4.4 on the scale hit the region, cancelling trains out of precaution.
