I am playing devil’s advocate. Because we damn know that even a villa in the Spanish backcountry isn’t the price of a house in Belgium. Yes maybe little towns near Charleroi or other unpleasant place to live. Or yes, they bite the bullet and sell the property abroad and try to buy an apartment or small house in a less popular region or area in Belgium. Brussels, Ghent and other major cities are already out of reach.

Maar wel bijzonder dat het gelijk is aan het aantal binnenlandse eigendommen, wat wel al gecontroleerd werd. Dus eigenlijk is het een “minder erg” probleem want nu het kan gecontroleerd worden verwacht je dat het aantal daar ook omlaag zal gaan.
Ik denk dat het goed is dat er controle is, het systeem moet fair zijn voor iedereen. Maar ik denk niet dat we hiermee het enorme tekort aan sociale woningen gaan oplossen. Dat is nog steeds het echte probleem. Stel je voor dat je deze 189 hun sociale woning afneemt. Je kan zoveel mensen helpen, maar in vergelijking met de wachtlijsten is het maar een druppel. Alle beetjes helpen, maar het is gemakkelijk om hier verkeerde conclusies uit te gaan trekken.

Kicking 189 renters out of social housing is going to do absolutely nothing to solve the waiting times on the social housing market. Not that Diependaele wants to solve them, because he’s N-VA and they’re too busy letting others profit of off a basic human and constitutional right.
