I love this. I always think about what you would do if you met someone on a dating app that seems cool but then they come and pick you up with a Trump wrapped truck wearing a Trump shirt and maga hat. You’d be horrified because you know immediately what he is going to spend the entire time talking about.
They are too stupid to realize it. Nothing you can do to make them less dumb.

Admittedly, I used to think this way (the “make it part of their identity” thing not the MAGA thing), but, then I realized I do that with video games, especially now with FFXIV. It is a core part of my identity, it’s a point of *my* pride, just like being LGBTQ+ is a core part of *their* identity. Being who they are is a protest against the status quo and those who enforce it.
They understand it, they just don’t care.
They only care about achieving their twisted worldview.

Correction: MAGA does understand hypocrisy, but they don’t see it as a fault or weakness. They see it as dominance. For them, hypocrisy means, “I get to tell you want to do, but I don’t have to do it, because I have power over you.”
The best way to understand conservatism is to recognize its foundational belief: Some people are better than others.
Conservatives don’t need to understand hypocrisy. It’s built into them as an instinct.
