The temperature surpassed Finland’s 25-degree Celsius heatwave threshold for the first time this year on Saturday in Northern Ostrobothnia.

The mercury reached 25.2 degrees Celsius at Ylivieska Airport, according to Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander.

The temperature crossed the elusive mark just before 5pm.

Saturday saw warm conditions across southern and central Finland, where temperatures climbed well above 20 degrees throughout the day.

More warm weather is in store for most of Finland on Sunday, according to forecasters.
