Elon Musk is sending a warning about the future of humanity. Every living organism that has ever existed on Earth has fought for its life at some point – sometimes not directly, but their ancestors did. Scientists estimate that our planet has gone through at least five major mass extinction events in the last 500 million years. The most recent one occurred 66 million years ago, when the Chicxulub Impactor, the meteor that killed all non-avian dinosaurs, hit the planet, and the next one might not be far off.

Humanity has to expand to survive

One way to avoid humanity suffering through the next mass extinction event is to expand its presence to another planet. So far, scientists have not figured out a way to do this, but they have been studying Mars for decades due to its proximity to Earth and the possibility of liquid water existing beneath its surface in deep pockets. However, no human has ever entered the thin atmosphere of the Red Planet – only rovers for the past 30 years.

The distance between the planets is another motivating factor for exploring Mars. A rover nowadays takes 10 months to make a trip. The proximity of the sun, the possibility of water, and the rocky structure – almost everything resembles Earth. Except for the absence of life. NASA found another planet called Kepler-452b in 2015, which might be capable of holding life, but it is located 1,800 light-years away.

Elon Musk sent a warning to mankind

The owner of SpaceX, one of the most notable space agencies in the world, in an interview with Fox News, said that humanity needs to expand its presence in another place in the Solar System – specifically talking about Mars. Musk warned that our sun is getting bigger and hotter as it ages, and in a few hundred million years, it will hold so much energy that a simple solar storm will wipe out all life on Earth.

Elon Musk did not hold back while talking to Jesse Watters from Fox, who asked why the billionaire is so fixated on Mars. Musk stated that expanding humanity to another planet will be the same as getting life insurance, and it is the only way to secure our survival because Earth will be incinerated.

Earth has millions of years left to live

Our planet has approximately 450 million years before the sun reaches a stage where it will be so hot that life on Earth will be impossible. The theory is the most accepted in science regarding the future of our planet, and there are no defense countermeasures to stop the big star from reaching its full capacity – and when it does, Earth will not be the only planet affected by the explosion and the magnetic field of the Sun. Elon Musk has been preparing for this moment his entire life. The creation of the SpaceX ‘Starbase’ is not only where the company launches its spaceships and crafts, but it is also a foundation for future space colonization.

SpaceX is not gatekeeping, and it shares its technology with other space agencies

In 2021, Musk revealed plans to transform the base located in South Texas into ground zero for the first spaceship capable of taking people to Mars and returning, which he called The Starship. It is designed to carry 100 tons of cargo or 100 passengers per flight. SpaceX also works closely with NASA to develop new spacecraft capable of sending people to outer space to explore what is near Earth. Humanity is not yet able to get out of the solar system – and has not even gotten out of the planet’s atmosphere – due to not being able to travel at the speed of light.
