Israel Iran War LIVE Updates: Israel launched airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear programme and military targets in the early hours of Friday, June 13. These strikes killed Hossein Salami, the Iran Revolutionary Guards chief, and Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff. A total of 78 people were killed in the attacks and 320 were left injured, Iranian ambassador to the UN confirmed.

Although the US distanced itself from any association with the attacks, a US official has confirmed that the country’s military is helping Israel intercept missiles fired from Iran in retaliation.

Leaders across the world have expressed concern over Israel’s attacks. However, countries such as France blamed Iran for the tensions, while Pakistan came out in support of Iran and condemned the Israeli attacks. French President Emmanuel Macron said on June 13 that Iran bore a heavy responsibility for the destabilisation of the Middle East.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry today, June 14, said that any further discussions with the US on the nuclear deal are “meaningless” in the aftermath of Israeli strikes on the country. The two nations were scheduled to start the next round of talks in Oman on Sunday.
