Which state.
I need to know if this is a horrible tragedy or malpractice.
I don’t see any indication that this was due to negligence or restrictive abortion laws? Did anyone read the article?
If she had lived but the infant died, she’d be indicted for murder.
This need to be politicized immediately. Quick moralizing redditors, get to it!
My first grade teacher passed in child birth, the baby didn’t make it either, so sad… ya don’t really get it when you’re that young.
I’ve known two contemporaries who died via childbirth. One was my classmate directly descended from 2 US presidents who had the best of all medical care. Eclampsia. The twins survived, she never left the hospital. Another was the wife of my husband’s partner, it was her 2nd pregnancy and her body went into DIC (disseminated ** intravascular coagulation – clotting out of control) after the birth. Beautiful young woman. They tried desperately to save her but she only ended up dying after she’d had limbs emergently amputated.
If you want to get even more depressed, both the dads married the nannies they had to hire to care for their kids. In a very short period of time.
I think about that a lot
** I corrected this word, thank you to the redditor
1 in 1000 American women die in childbirth still
Amniotic emboli. It happens
America has the highest death rate giving birth in any first world countries
The comments show that people still feel like women are disposable. Empathy, have some fucking empathy.
My aunt lost her daughter during childbirth and almost lost her own life. Then, shortly after, my uncle left her by leaving a note while she was at work saying he was leaving her because she couldn’t have kids.
Get used to it. Trumps America
My 3 kids each have 1 little and all 3 were risky pregnancies and trauma childbirths. All are well right now. One couple is pregnant for the 2nd time. I’ve told them all to count their blessings and be done. Put your physical health and finances as top priorities and try to enjoy life.
I’m a child neuropsychologist and it’s nothing but a miracle for everything to go well from conception to birth. Don’t even get me started on early childhood development being the next timeline of worry. Then childhood and school. Then teenage years.
How old was she?
My mother almost died in childbirth with me. She coded and had to be resuscitated. Stories like this make me so so sad 😩
Sadly not an uncommon story. With every test, scan doctors have at their disposal, we insist on treating pregnancy as a natural god given miracle that will somehow magically work out. And not as a medically dangerous condition that requires monitoring and checking for possible risks throughout the pregnancy. And after birth, we say tata bye bye, come back after 6 weeks. Why not every week.
Do you how many ultrasounds are done in a low risk regular pregnancy? Three. Three.
Did you know women can labor for 40-50 hours before getting an emergency C Section? At what point does it become malpractice!
Pre eclampsia, hypertension, gestational diabetes- so many risky conditions can develop so quickly. But insurance will only allow ultrasounds and Dopplers when things are dire. The greed to keep costs down is hurting women. Forget rural areas where women are waiting until week 16,20 to get a dating scan.
Most women think 21 century medicine will prevent birthing deaths but what we do not realize is 21st century medicine is catered to giving women plastic surgery not caring for mothers. This is patriarchy at work.
Healthcare in the US is going backwards not that hard to comprehend, I’m sorry for the loss and ever1 effected
